About our programs

We are currently offering classes in Swing (Lindy Hop), Jazz, Tap, and African. From time to time, we offer classes in Burlesque as well.

1. Where are you located?

   We operate our classes at various fine halls in central Edmonton, most notably Strathcona Hall and Orange Hall in the Whyte Ave/Gateway Boulevard area. As you view our schedule/register page, the venue location is listed there! Venue locations with maps are also listed here.

2. What shoes or clothing do I need?

   Footwear - mobility and comfort are #1! Tennis shoes, flats, even runners usually work fine the first day. African is typically done barefoot, whereas Jazz is with shoes. In swing classes, guys need some grip to lead effectively, while ladies need some slip to turn.

3. Age? Partner? Single?

   If you're self-conscious about age - we aren't! Our audience is typically 15 to 40, though there are a number of couples and individuals 50+ who come out and feel at ease. Partner? Sure, bring a partner, it helps keep things balanced, but it isn't necessary. We put in the effort to balance the classes. Single? No problem.

4. What is Swing, Jazz, African, Lindy-Hop, etc?

   Swing is a partnered dance characterized by fun, energy, and improvisation. Here's a couple pros going at it. Keep in mind that they're quite advanced and are dancing a lot faster than what you'd be starting out at.
   Jazz and African are solo dance forms that are also fun, energetic, and improvisational. Here's some african dancing, and also here's a clip of the vintage jazz dancing we do.

5. How much does it cost?

   We are happy to offer competitive rates no different than any other studio. In general, regular priced classes are $69 for 4-weeks/5-hours, $99 for 6-weeks/7.5-hours, and $169 for 12-weeks/15-hours, depending on what you select. However, you truly need to see our schedule/registration page! There are a few variables to consider: We offer a deal for students and members; we may offer a small discount for partners on some classes; we also have a fee if you're registering the day-of.
