Swing Dance Socials
Our dance nights are events where Lindy Hop, Charleston, Balboa, Jive and Swing dancers take to the floor, every weekend! The events are lively, social, and just plain fun. This is an inclusive event, and beginners are always welcome.
All of our swing dances feature a drop-in beginner lesson to kick off the night, followed by social dancing to deejayed tunes of the 1930s and 1940s. If you are considering our weekly lessons, this is a good chance to check out our swing dance scene. We encourage you to come out, meet our people, and have a great time!

Dance Styles
The main type of Swing Dance we do at Sugar Swing is Lindy Hop. Fun, free, and full of playfulness! We also welcome dances of Jive, East-Coast, Shag, Jitterbug, Charleston –whatever you are inspired to do!
Balboa Swing is a type of swing dance danced in close quarters as if you were in a packed 1930’s ballroom in California. We refer to Slow Drags as a type of blues dance that is danced to slower big band music.
Live Music & Special Events
About once every month we have a bigger party. They typically include live music, dance performances, contests, or a special theme. Usually it’ll be attached to a swing dance workshop or dance event weekend. The cost of admission will typically be a bit higher, in the $18-$28 range depending on the occasion in order to support the live music. Please check our Facebook page and website for the next amped up social dance!
Participant Waiver, Screening & Media Consent
Upon entry we ask everyone to sign in, meaning, to sign off on our waiver that includes risks due to physical activity; give photo/video consent as outlined with our Media Policy; and agree to our Code of Conduct.
We strive to inspire and make every night sensational and fun. Also, we ask for respectful dancing and common boundaries to be observed. Please see our Code of Conduct to give yourself awareness!
Highly Transmittable Diseases
It is important to acknowledge Covid-19, colds, and flus. We ask participants to stay home if they are definitely sick, or to put on a mask if there’s doubt.
Dancer’s Guarantee
Typically our parties are well-attended but it’s impossible to predict and control. Therefore, on occasion, a dance social may be low in number OR it ends quite early. In those cases, we sincerely apologize and invoke our Dancer’s Guarantee policy: you are entitled to receive a dance pass for free admission to use on any other night!
These dance passes will be handed out if there are less than a healthy number of people, typically around 20 (customers+staff), who arrive by around 9:00pm. The event will continue, but you will get a free pass to come back another time! Dancers may also request a pass (dance@sugarswing.com) if they left earlier on those nights.
Alternatively, if the event appears to be drastically fading or losing steam anytime before 9:30pm, even if less than 30 customers+staff signed in, we would also invoke the dancer’s guarantee!
