Instructors: Birkley Wisniewski & Czarina Ramos Venue: Sugar Swing 10019 80 Ave, Edmonton These steps come out of a New York night club! From the 1930s, that is. Lindy Hop is danced to fun, rhythmic jazz music, and is a partnered dance. It was first pioneered by predominantly Black Americans, has since spread globally across the world. It involves steps that are often done in 8 or 6 beats of the music; nowadays we'll call 8-count Lindy Hop, and the 6-count as Jitterbug or Jive. It's fun, beginner-friendly, inclusive, and no experience needed. Sign up for rotating if you prefer to or do not have a partner, or for partners if you have one. Both groups, ie Swing 1, Partners and Swing 1, Rotating, will be taught at the same time by the same instructors in the same room -- one side of the room will be rotating, the other side will not! These steps come out of a New York night club! Appropriate for dancers who've recently completed Swing 2 and for those that have taken Swing 3 before! In this series, you can assume every week will be quite different. Some weeks will focus on just one idea (ie, pulse or connection), while other weeks will be a fun party of new moves! Please consider talking to your pals about joining you for Swing 3 -- bigger and balanced classes are better for learning! For material, some classes will be concept-driven in order to expose students to more advanced ideas regarding their own dancing, while other classes will feel similar in learning style to Swing 1 and Swing 2. Instructors: --- --- Venue: Sugar Swing 10019 80 Ave, Edmonton These steps come out of a New York night club! It is subtle, but if you dance on these floors for more than an hour versus most other dance floors, your joins and muscles will definitely appreciate it! The air conditioning certainly helps, especially when it gets warm outside. |
